The kids and I packed up for the week and headed to my parents in Wimberley. Their property is on a dead end road so it’s always so peaceful and one of our favorite places to just go and chill. My sister drove up the same day and since my niece was already there, it was super fun having all the girls together! And Colton loves helping out around the property. He never passes up the chance to drive Papa’s tractor or feed the deer, which come right up to the back porch!
It was super rainy the first couple of days so we lounged in our pajamas playing lots of games and crafting, watching movies, trying our hand at watermelon margaritas and eating way too many snacks. The next day we were able to venture out to the local library for story time and then head the park to get some energy out and hunt for bugs. Ellie seems to be obsessed with all kinds of insects these days. Rollie pollies are her fave, can ya tell?
Later in the week, we took a glass bottom boat tour on part of the San Marcos river with natural aquifers. The aquifers make the water a constant 72-degrees The kids totally loved it and took turns practically yelling everytime they saw a fish or turtle. Colton in particular. 😉
We ended the week playing in the river and having lunch at The Back Porch. It’s the cutest little hidden restaurant and swimming hole, complete with a tree swing, we literally could have lived at all week! It is also a constant 72-degrees because of the aquifers and much appreciated since it was about 200-degrees by the afternoon. I had the brisket grilled cheese sandwich and apologize I didn’t snap a picture of it, but all that swimming made me super hungry and it was delicious! I devoured every last bite and will definitely go back on our next visit.
I sat on the back porch on our last morning just taking in the quiet and watching the deer come up one last time. It’s always a little sad to pack up and come home but I think we were all ready to get home to Andy. I hope your summer is going fabulously!
